Simple Three-Ingredient Strawberry Lemonade

Got a nice and simple one for you folks today. Strawberry season ended like the flash in the pan it usually is around here, but that doesn’t mean my taste for berries has ended, so I have plenty of ideas and a bunch of frozen berries to use in the future.

First up was just a simple beverage: a fresh, tangy, sweet lemonade. It’s only three ingredients (plus water), and it’s really easy to make and chill for a refreshing summer day. Strawberry puree leaves it a little thicker than the store-bought lemonade would be, and fresh lemon juice has a less pungent taste than the bottled stuff.

I use plain white granulated sugar for this recipe. I know a lot of people prefer something different, though a lot of those alternative sugars keep getting studies showing the cause all manner of diseases, so I tend to stay away from them. That and we just plain don’t like the taste of things like sucralose around here. You can certainly try a sugar alternative if you want, though!

I also highly recommend giving it a try frozen or as close to it as you can. This lemonade makes an incredible iced drink.

Here’s how to make it!

Fresh 3-Ingredient Strawberry Lemonade

A super simple lemonade recipe made with fresh fruit.
Servings 6 Cups
Prep Time 15 minutes
Chill Time 2 hours
Total Time 2 hours 15 minutes

Equipment

  • Sauce Pan
  • Strainer
  • Pitcher
  • Rubber Spatula
  • Blender

Ingredients

  • 1 Cup White Sugar
  • 3 Cups Water
  • 1 Lb Fresh Strawberries
  • 1 Cup Fresh Lemon Juice About 5 large lemons juiced.

Instructions

  • Pour one cup of water and your sugar into your sauce pan. Bring it to a simmer and heat for about 3-4 minutes while the sugar dissolves and it thickens. This makes a simple syrup.
  • Using a blender, puree your strawberries. Pour the puree through a strainer to remove bits of pulp and seeds. You can add it directly to your pitcher. I found using the rubber spatula to work it through the strainer was essential.
  • Add the lemon juice, simple syrup, and remaining water to the strawberry puree in the pitcher. Stir to combine. Add more water if you want to make the beverage last a little longer.
  • Chill, or serve immediately over ice. I like to garnish with some chopped frozen strawberries as well!
