Hey there! I recently put together a big guide to the tools and supplies a novice baker needs (and what they don’t), which makes for a perfect gift guide for the holidays. If you haven’t checked it out already, take a look! The Ultimate Baking Equipment Gift List for a Novice Baker.

Today’s recipe? It’s a peppermint mocha. You know why you’re here.
I’m not one of those people that needs a latte every day just to wake up, but I do like to try to get at least one seasonal drink when they come around every year. This year, though, SBucks has that boycott and strike going on, so I thought, why not just try to make one myself? I did used to work as a barista at one of those shops, so I know more or less how it comes together.

I don’t have an espresso machine and I’m not that big into coffee, though, so I made something with what I have on hand: some instant coffee and some baking ingredients. You can too! Trust me: it does the job. It’s also really easy to make. I mean, here’s basically the whole process:

It’s also a pretty easy recipe to adjust to suit your tastes. Want a sweeter drink? Just increase the sugar. Want stronger peppermint? Add more. Want to make it iced? Crush some ice to pour it over, or freeze it and crush that.
