Three-Ingredient Buttery Drop Biscuits

A pared-down biscuit recipe for an excellent base biscuit.
Servings 8 Biscuits
Prep Time 5 minutes
Cook Time 20 minutes
Total Time 25 minutes

Equipment

  • Mixing Bowls
  • Cast Iron Skillet

Ingredients

  • 2 Cups Self-Rising Flour
  • 1 Stick Salted Butter Chilled and Cubed
  • 2 Tbsp Salted Butter Melted
  • 1 Cup Whole Milk Cold

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 450℉.
  • Cut and mix the cold butter with the flour to make something coarse and grainy. Add in the cold milk and stir until it comes together into a dough, but don't over-mix. If it's too dry, add a bit more milk.
  • Using a ¼ cup measuring cup, drop dollops of the biscuit dough into your skillet. Don't worry if they touch a bit.
  • Bake the biscuits for 20-25 minutes, until they're turning golden-brown. When they're done, remove them from the oven and brush them with the melted butter for extra flavor. Tip: An herb or compound butter goes great here!
